You’ve always had the power my dear

Once you start to hit certain ages all of a sudden your frame of mind starts to shift. Especially it seems when you start to reach that pivotal age of dun dun dun…30! It seems like when that particular birthday is approaching people start to perhaps re-evaluate or even just simply try to evaluate where they are in their lives. It’s like all of a sudden (depending on your individual situation) you’re like “Crap! I guess maybe I shouldn’t be spending SOOO much time and money at the bars” or “Damn I’m old!” perhaps it’s simply “When did I grow up and how do I make it stop?!” Whatever the case; I’m here to tell you some great news! No matter where you are on the path of life you have the power to change it. Yeah, that’s right! YOU have the power! Isn’t that a beautiful thing? Obviously you’ve had the power the entire time, but sometimes you just need someone to whack you over the head with reality and say “YES! YOU! MAKE A CHANGE!” Hopefully you’re satisfied and happy with the decisions you have made thus far that has you at whatever age you are that is making you question or take an inventory of your life and happiness but if not, shift your sails my friend 🙂

Some people get lost in work…which has it’s benefits, but I’d say stop for a cup of coffee, climb into bed with your favorite book and know that the work will always be there waiting for you. Quality of life is so important as you can always get more money, but you can never get more time!

Some people get lost in the “college years” … I mean I’m all about having fun, but there comes a time when you have to realize that life isn’t all about parties and kegs. Set a goal and go make something of yourself!

Some people get lost in the family life…Trust me I’m totally an advocate of spending as much time with your children and family as possible, but it’s also okay and good for you to take some time for yourself sometimes. Just because you’re in a relationship, married or a parent doesn’t mean YOU have to get lost in the shuffle. In fact, I believe you’ll become better at all your roles when you are full as a person.

The moral of the story is that no matter where you are in life; you can always change something to make it better. So that vacation you’ve been putting off? That restaurant that you’ve been wanting to try? The friend or family member you’ve been meaning to visit? GO DO IT! When? NOW! No time is ever right for ANYTHING. You’ve got to take life by the reigns and enjoy the ride.

At the end of the day just make sure you are proud of yourself and the life you are creating. Make sure you are surrounded by people who lift you up and never try to bring you down. Take time for yourself. Make sure the people you love know how much you love them. Stop putting off your happiness for another day or year. Live in the present moment…once you learn how to do that, the past and future can’t have control over you. That my friends, is a beautiful thing.

Hugs and Loves,
Wishes for the Soul
